Meagan grew up in Alaska writing poems about injustice and hot boys. She left Alaska to study poetry and literature at the University of Idaho, then spent fifteen years in government communications before breaking up with her career to pursue creative writing.
She earned her MFA in fiction at Pacific Lutheran University’s Rainier Writing Workshop. That was a very, very good time. The Ocean in My Ears (2017, Ooligan Press) is her first novel. Her short work has appeared in Narrative, Barrelhouse, and Fugue, as well as the regional anthology, Timberland Writes Together. She lives and plays in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, daughter, dog, two stinky goats, and many chickens.
Hi friend! I’m glad you’re still reading because this is where I reveal random stuff about myself, like my love for cuddly-type things. I heart my Dwarf Nigerian goaties super mucho. The blue-eyed girl is Beth and the brown-eyed boy is Lucky.
Other animals I love include my dog, Itsy. Salmon and owls and foxes also are excellent, as are my
ten seven (coyotes are villains) four chickens that all are hens because ROOSTERS SUCK.
Next let’s discuss food.
Endangered Species chocolate bars, especially the dark chocolate with caramel and sea salt (the one with the eagle on the front) and the smooth milk chocolate (the one with the otter on the front), are ridiculously mega delish, as are:
- Mashed Potatoes.
- Hummus and naan.
- Bone Broth. (yes, for real)
- Amy’s Organic Chili.
- Chips and salsa. (sometimes mixed with sour cream)
- AeroPress coffee. (love my local roasters Olympia Coffee Roasting Company and Batdorf & Bronson)
- Fage Greek yogurt. OMG! The strawberry is SO LIFE-CHANGING.
If I had unlimited supplies of these foods, I could live happily ever after.
Here are my fav articles of clothing. They all begin with the letter “s.”
- Stretchy skirts, stretchy shirts, and stretchy pants
- Sleeping bag coat (modeled by me below)
Now that you know these random things, what are your favorites?
It’s okay. You can tell me anything.
